In the summer, the Youth Orchestra offers three weekends of intensive Chinese music training. This Music From China Summer Music Program is a good place for beginners to get their start. Students are taught basic playing techniques of the erhu, zheng, yangqin, liuqin and hulusi in group lessons, ending the day in ensemble rehearsal conducted by Music Director Wang Guowei. The young players demonstrate their accomplishments in a culminating recital open to the public.
Registration begins in mid-March.
